Pall Corp. to Present at SOGAT Oil & Gas Technology Conference
PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y., March 22, 2012 - Increasing demand for energy worldwide is driving the development of advanced technologies that will boost production in oil and gas (hydrocarbon) processing. Thomas Wines, Ph.D., senior marketing manager, Fuels & Chemicals, for Pall Corporation (NYSE:PLL), will present best practices in hydrocarbon processing at the Sour Oil and Gas Advanced Technology (SOGAT) Conference in Abu Dhabi on March 26th. In his all-day “Filtration and Contamination Control” workshop, Dr. Wines will discuss filtration and separation technologies to increase the productivity, performance, and reliability of processing equipment as well as enhance worker safety.

“While international interest in technical developments for hydrocarbon processing continues to grow, these topics are particularly important in the Middle East, which has an especially abundant supply of ‘sour’ oil and natural gas deposits,” said Dr. Wines. Sour oil and gas contain hydrogen sulfide (H2S), a contaminant that is toxic to power plant operators and corrosive to equipment.
“By removing H2S, Pall has demonstrated that oil and gas producers can improve the quality and usability of this valuable resource to meet increased energy demand,” added Dr. Wines.
In addition to covering solutions to ‘sweeten’ sour oil and gas, Dr. Wines’ all-day session will encompass the following: process optimization, which includes evaluating contamination sources, types, and test methods; practical guidelines on field piloting; and process monitoring. He will also explore real-world case studies and proven filtration and separation solutions to contamination control challenges. SOGAT attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with process technology experts in Pall’s booth # 19 from March 25th - 29th.
With more than 23 years of filtration, separation, and purification experience serving the refinery, gas processing, and chemical industries, Dr. Wines has published over 40 technical papers. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University, N.Y., and is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).
