PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y., January 20, 2010 - Pall Corporation (NYSE: PLL), a global leader in filtration, separation and purification, today introduced a diatomaceous earth (DE)-free beer clarification system engineered specifically for mid-sized breweries. The PROFi Batch membrane system provides craft breweries the benefits of membrane technology previously accessible only to larger manufacturers.
The PROFi Batch system is designed for breweries with an annual production capacity under 1.3 million hl. The batch system adapts Pall’s continuous PROFi technology to match filtration requirements of mid-sized breweries, reducing the number of module blocks and operating in batch production mode. The system offers all the benefits of the full-size PROFi system, including:
No cost, handling, storage or disposal of DE
Minimal beer loss based on a zero retentate crossflow process
High water and energy efficiency
Reduced waste streams
High clarification resulting in excellent product quality
"Pall’s PROFi membrane technology enables breweries to achieve the highest quality standards while meeting their operational, economic and environmental sustainability goals," said Dr Dirk Weber, global marketing manager beer, Pall Germany. "Our new PROFi Batch system makes the technology accessible to mid-sized breweries who are seeking a cost efficient DE-free beer clarification solution."
